HIRRA Presentation

Greetings all. I am pleased to announce that a representative from the Hornby Island Residents and Ratepayers Association will be giving a presentation on Saturday, September 10, 11AM, at the Lasqueti Community Hall. The Fall Fair activities and displays will get going after 1.

Daniel Seigal stepped down as an member of the HIRRA executive this spring, but has been a member for the past six years, and has agreed to take this on on their behalf. He is also a former Lasqueti resident and landowner.

HIRRA represents a very different model of relations between the community and Regional District, one that has been working well for many years, is more democratic, and with more local control. Hornby residents seem quite happy with their arrangement, and the CVRD seems happy with it as well. Please come ready to hear about how it came to be, how it works and is working, and bring your questions. Perhaps, with a working model to point to, we can change our relationship with our Regional District for the better.
