Community Information Meeting Saturday, April 26, 11:30 at the Community Hall

Most of the people at the March 29 Community Information Meeting clearly expressed the view that they did not want a separate plan for the False Bay area, or any other area of Lasqueti. People felt there should be one plan for the whole island.

The flier that will be mailed out shortly before the April 26 Community Information Meeting (CIM) has already been printed, and uses the heading "False Bay Master Plan" (FBMP). The Lasqueti Trust Committee has not met, and will not meet to discuss and decide how to proceed until shortly after the April 26 CIM. Until then, we're still using the term FBMP.

At our meeting on May 1 , the Lasqueti Trust Committee (LTC) will consider all the community input, and decide on the best way to proceed.

In the flier that will come out, as in the previous one, the "Discussion Wording" on each of the topics - general policies, parking and hunting regulations - is just there to spark thought and consideration on the topics. There is nothing there that the LTC is invested in or leaning toward.

If you can't come to the meeting on Saturday, April 29, please send us your input by email (falsebay [at] islandstrust [dot] bc [dot] ca) fax (250-247-7514) or mail (700 North Road, Gabriola Island, BC  V0R 1X3.

I am advised that, as a trustee, I should not publicly post correspondence until it is released by the Trust office. This means that written input received by the Trust on FBMP topics will be part of the agenda package released towards the end of April, shortly before our May 1 meeting.

I encourage people, as well as sending them to the Trust, to post their submissions on the Lasqueti web site. This way, others can see what people think, and can add their own opinions, or ask questions. The community discussion will be wider and probably more thoughtful than if it is limited to only people who can attend the meetings, or restricted to reacting to documents published in official agenda packages. There is, under the Forums tab on the Post to website page (http://lasqueti.ca/node/add/forum) a False Bay Master Plan forum topic.
