Lasqueti Yacht Club Spring Bay Day

Event Date:
Saturday, July 15, 2023

Reminder:
The Lasqueti Yacht Club

ANNUAL - SPRING BAY KAYAK AND PADDLE BOARD RACES - Sat. July 15th.

This year we will once again be offering FUN kids events starting at 2 P.M. Registration starts at 1:30.

Anneliese will be organizing the kids events and fun times.

We will have short kayaks for all of the kid races, as well as kick boards for some fun events.

4 ADULT RACES THIS YEAR:

Adult events will begin around 4 - after we wind up the kids events.  Registration for adults will begin from 1:30 onwards.

Team Kayak Relay - 2 people using the same kayak and doing a switch on the beach.  Also - the “premier event” is a single person Double Loop Kayak Race.  The kayak races will have 2 categories - 10 feet and under kayak and over 10 feet.

The Paddle Board Race:  2 events - first is the long paddle board race and the 2nd event is the Paddle Board Sprint.

We will try to have extra kayaks and boards available for anyone who wants to give it a try.  Anyone who has an extra kayak or paddle board could bring it along to lend out.  Any extra PFDs would be helpful as well.

The kayak races and paddle board races will be alternated to enable a rest in between to make it possible for those wanting to participate in multiple races.  Anyone wanting to sign up for all 4 events will just have to go, go, go.  There could be a real grudge match between friends and a chance to show off your stamina.

We will have 4 of our Lasers available on the beach (with our new hand trucks for easy launching), for any competent sailers.  PFD”s must be worn and a waiver must be signed.  This benefit  is offered to club members and non members this day, ( club members can use the lasers any time they are available, more on this coming soon, another great reason to join the club).

On that note Don Dempster will be at the event to sign up new members and to collect dues, cash or cheque.  E-transfer will work in advance at ddempsterd [at] gmail [dot] com and paper work can be dealt with at the event.

Membership is  $60.00 for a family and $40.00 for singles this year.

Registration Fees:
Adult Club Members $2.00 non members $3.00 per event.
All kids registration $2.00 for the day. Members and non-members alike.
All non-members will have to sign a waiver and a guardian will have to sign for the Kids.
(Sadly this is just the world we live in today).

PFD’s must be worn by all participants in each event.

Hot Dogs and Polish Sausage will be sold all day long starting at 2 PM.

Please bring your own liquid refreshments.  Bottled water will be sold for those who forget.
