Election thanks

I want to thank everyone who participated in our local elections - everyone who came out and voted, those who put their names forward as candidates, and a special thank you our hard-working elections team. I hope you get a good rest before the upcoming provincial polls!

Congratulations to JS on your win, I look forward to working together for the next four years as we engage in important work on behalf of our amazing community.

It is an honour to represent our community, and I will continue to work hard to preserve our autonomy, carefully consider our bylaws, and advocate for our needs at all levels of government. Above all, I want to hear from you, my community. How can we better represent you? What issues are important to you?

Our Official Community Plan review will be restarting this term, building on the extensive work of the LCA OCP Steering Committee and the previous LTCs. The LCA OCP report will help inform policy, and I’m happy to provide a copy for anyone interested. As we return to the review, I encourage you to think about what changes, if any, you’d like to see. Are there land uses you think should be permitted that currently are not, or vice versa? Community engagement is critical for adopting an updated OCP that serves the needs of our community for the coming years. I especially welcome any ideas on ways to engage that haven’t yet been explored.

The next Lasqueti Local Trust Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 23, 2026 at 11:00 am, following the inauguration of the new Trust Council. This initial meeting of the new term will be held electronically, along with all LTC meetings across the Islands Trust.

As always, I invite you to reach out to your trustees with your questions, comments, or concerns.

With thanks,

Tim
