Gorgeous photos of the boreal - and the Tar Sands - beauty and the beast!

This past weekend we went to Victoria to the Creatively United - Earth Day event. We listened to great performers, Holly Arntzen and Kevin Wright, and Ann Mortifee and Paul Horn. It was inspirational. As most people know the Hearings about the Enbridge pipeline are taking place this spring here on the coast. This pipeline is due to come through the Great Bear Rainforest to Kitimat and once on ships,  through the roughest waters in BC and the world, in tankers 5 times the size of the one that broke up in Alaska. To get the big picture, check out Garth Lenz's TedTalk about it - with gorgeous photos.  His internationally award winning photos will blow your mind - and the contrast to the tarsands - should blow your mind. What to do? Talk about it, write to every politician you can, and consider - how can we here in alternative energy land share our tools elsewhere? I think it starts with slowing our own consumption. I love this island - we are the change we want to see in the world - lets share the threats - and the solutions.

Thanks Sheila!

the stunning beauty in those photos does stand in sharp relief against the staggering devastation being inflicted by our thirst of cheap oil.
Keep up the good fight!
